Description:

In this module, you will learn how to perform more than simple Google searches. Let Google work for you by utilizing its advanced search features.

Assignment:

1. Explore the websites below in "Google Search" to learn about Google's search features.
2. Go to the Google web site and perform some advanced searches (using the tips in the handout, search by date and image search). Example - "Industrial Revolution"
3. On the Google web site, perform a search using the Wonder Wheel and Google Squared.
4. Create a new page on your wiki called "Google Search." On the "Google Search" page, journal about ideas you have for using Google's advanced search features in the classroom.
5. Create a lesson plan in which your students utilize a specific advanced search feature, the Wonder Wheel, or Google Squared. Upload the lesson plan to the Google Search page on your wiki (follow the same instructions you used last week for adding your iGoogle homepage screenshot).
6. Create a custom search engine and embed it on your wiki or on your Schoolwires web page. If you embed it on your Schoolwires page, provide a link from your wiki page to your Schoolwires page.
7. Scroll to the top of this page and click the DISCUSSION tab. Answer the discussion question found there.
8. Read the answers to the discussion questions posted by your fellow classmates. Respond to any that you feel strongly about or have something to add.

Google Bookmarks- When you "favorite" or "bookmark" sites in Internet Explorer or Firefox, those bookmarks are only available on that computer. With social bookmarking, your favorites are available to you on any computer or mobile device with an internet connection! In addition, you don't have to worry about backing up those bookmarks for a computer reimage!
